Murewa Rural District council consists of 30 Councillors who form the policy making body operating through the Committee system. There are seven main departments, all headed by the Chief Executive Officer.
The Finance Department
Mission: The Mission of the department is to sustainably support and enhance corporate growth through prudent financial management.
Head of Department: Mr Noah Chimboza (B. Comm Acc Hons, M. Comm Applied Acc, LCPA (Z)). He is an accountant by training with extensive experience in local government finance and administration.
The Finance Committee: It reports to the Full Council and consists of five members:

Committee Responsibilities

3. Management of Capital funds.
4. To run strategic business units of council profitably.
5. To manage council assets (Insurance).
6. To monitor monthly council budget performance.
7. To consolidate council annual budget.
The Engineering & Technical Services Department
Head of Department: Mr Sithole Ernest ( BSc Hons CIV Eng, UZ ) He is a graduate member of the Zimbabwe Institute of Engineers (Z.I.E) responsible for servicing and advising the projects and planning committee as well as the Roads And Works Committee.

The Gender Department
Mission: The Mission of the department is to promote equality and equity in access to economic opportunities for men and women in Murewa District.
Head of Department: Winnet Chitauro (Cert. BA (LCCI), Dip. Com Development (MSU), BSBE (CUT) She is a holder of a Bachelor of Honours Degree in Business Management attained from Chinhoyi University of Technology and a Diploma in Community Development with Midlands State University. She joined Murewa Rural District Council in July 2004 and currently she is the Gender Focal Person and PA to the Chief Executive Officer.

3. To Reduce All Forms Of Gender Based Violence In The District.
4. To Increase Gender Responsiveness Of The Environment And Natural Resources Management Strategies And In Climate Change Adaptation And Mitigation Initiatives.
5. To Promote Equality And Equity In Access To Economic Opportunities For Men And Women In Murewa District.
6. To Promote Gender Sensitivity In Health Service Delivery.
7. To Ensure That The Constitutional And Legislative Provisions On Gender Justice Are Implemented And Gender Equality Targets Set In The District, National, Regional And International Protocols Are Achieved.

Mission: The Mission and scope of the committee is to provide an independent, objective assurance and consulting service designed to add value and improve the council’s operations.
Head of Department: Mr Gorejena Tapfuma Chiseve (ACCA) (UK) (R.P.Acc-Z). He is a holder of a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Accounting attained from Solusi University , he is also a full member of the Association Of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)(UK) and a registered as a Public Accountant (RPA-Z) with the Public Accountants and Auditors Board Of Zimbabwe(PAAB) and is also a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).

The HR & Administration Department
Mission: The Mission of the department is to sustainably support and enhance corporate growth through prudent administration management.
Head of Department: Mr. Raymond T. Mudautsi Diploma in Personnel Management (IPMZ) obtained in 2005 and a Bachelor of Science Honors Degree in Development Studies (ZOU) obtained in June 2015. He also holds short course qualifications/certificates in Personnel Procedures, Accounting, Computers and Procurement.
